2026 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid Performance

The 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid uses a 2.0-liter engine paired with two electric motors. Together, this hybrid system produces 200 total system horsepower, giving the Civic Hybrid a lively feel compared with many traditional compact sedans.

One of the best parts of the Civic Hybrid is how smooth it feels in everyday driving. Instead of relying on a traditional automatic transmission or conventional CVT, the system uses electric motor power delivery to create seamless acceleration. The result is a sedan that feels calm in traffic, responsive when merging, and easy to enjoy on longer drives.

Drive Modes

The 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid offers selectable drive modes that allow drivers to adjust the vehicle’s personality based on the moment.

  • Normal Mode: Balanced performance for everyday driving.
  • Econ Mode: Helps prioritize efficiency during commuting or city driving.
  • Sport Mode: Sharpens response for a more energetic feel.
  • Individual Mode: Allows select driver preferences to be customized on equipped models.

This flexibility helps the Civic Hybrid work well for different types of drivers. It can feel relaxed during a weekday commute and more responsive when you want a sportier drive.

2026 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid MPG

Fuel economy is one of the biggest reasons to consider the 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid. According to Honda’s published figures, both Civic Sedan Hybrid trims are rated at:

Driving Estimate 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid MPG
City MPG 50
Highway MPG 47
Combined MPG 49

That makes the Civic Hybrid a smart choice for drivers who spend a lot of time commuting around Overland Park, Kansas City, Olathe, or Lenexa. Fewer fuel stops can make a meaningful difference over time, especially for drivers with longer daily routes.

Shoppers can also compare official fuel economy information through FuelEconomy.gov while researching hybrid vehicles.

2026 Honda Civic Sedan Hybrid vs. Gas Civic

Many shoppers compare the Civic Hybrid with the gas-powered Civic before deciding. Both are practical, efficient, and enjoyable to drive, but the hybrid has some clear advantages.

Feature Civic Sedan Hybrid Gas Civic Sedan

Powertrain 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors Gas engine

Brief Summary: Shopping for a 2026 Honda? This guide compares the best 2026 Honda cars, SUVs, hybrids, EVs, minivans, and trucks, including the Civic, Accord, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, Passport, HR-V, and Prologue. Learn which Honda fits your lifestyle, budget, commute, family needs, and long-term ownership goals.

Introduction

Honda has built its reputation on vehicles that are practical, efficient, reliable, and easy to live with. For 2026, the Honda lineup continues to offer something for nearly every kind of driver, from fuel-saving sedans and family SUVs to hybrid models, a versatile minivan, a comfortable pickup truck, and an all-electric SUV.

But with so many strong options, the real question is simple: which 2026 Honda is best for you?

The answer depends on how you drive. A daily commuter may love the Honda Civic or Accord. A growing family may be better served by the CR-V, Pilot, or Odyssey. Drivers who want truck capability without sacrificing comfort may prefer the Ridgeline. EV shoppers may want to look closely at the Prologue.

Below, we’ll break down the top 2026 Honda models by lifestyle, features, practicality, fuel economy, and overall value so you can shop with more confidence.

2026 Honda Civic: Best Honda Car for Everyday Value

The 2026 Honda Civic remains one of the easiest Honda models to recommend. It is compact enough for city driving, efficient enough for long commutes, and refined enough to feel more premium than its price point suggests.

For many drivers, the Civic is the “just right” car. It is affordable, practical, comfortable, and fun to drive without being complicated.

Why the 2026 Honda Civic Stands Out

The Civic is ideal for:

  • First-time car buyers
  • College students
  • Daily commuters
  • Small families
  • Drivers who want strong fuel economy
  • Shoppers who prefer a sedan or hatchback over an SUV

The 2026 Civic Sedan starts at $24,695 according to Honda’s current model listing. It also offers strong EPA-estimated fuel economy, with Honda listing up to 32 city and 41 highway MPG for select Civic Sedan configurations.

Best Civic Option for Efficiency

The 2026 Civic Sedan Hybrid is a standout for drivers who want even better fuel savings. Honda lists the Civic Sedan Hybrid at a starting MSRP of $29,395 with up to 50 city and 47 highway MPG.

That makes it one of the most appealing options in the Honda lineup for commuters who want fewer stops at the pump without moving into an SUV.

2026 Honda Civic Type R: Best Honda for Performance

If the standard Civic is the sensible choice, the 2026 Honda Civic Type R is the enthusiast’s choice.

The Civic Type R is built for drivers who want sharp handling, strong acceleration, manual-transmission engagement, and a more aggressive driving personality. It is still practical enough for daily use, but its real appeal is performance.

Who Should Buy the 2026 Civic Type R?

The Civic Type R is best for drivers who want:

  • Track-inspired performance
  • A manual transmission
  • Sport-tuned handling
  • A high-output turbocharged engine
  • Civic practicality with serious driving excitement

Honda lists the 2026 Civic Type R at a starting MSRP of $47,395. It is not the most budget-friendly Honda, but for performance-focused drivers, it delivers an experience that few compact cars can match.

2026 Honda Accord: Best Honda Sedan for Comfort and Space

The 2026 Honda Accord is a strong choice for drivers who want more room, more refinement, and a smoother ride than a compact car typically provides.

It is especially appealing for commuters and families who do not need an SUV but still want generous passenger space and a large trunk.

Why Choose the 2026 Honda Accord?

The Accord is a great fit for:

  • Professionals with longer commutes
  • Small families
  • Drivers who want sedan comfort
  • Shoppers comparing midsize cars
  • Buyers who want a refined daily driver

Honda lists the 2026 Accord at a starting MSRP of $28,395. The gas-powered Accord uses a 192-horsepower turbocharged engine, while hybrid trims offer a 204-horsepower hybrid powertrain.

2026 Honda Accord Hybrid The Accord Hybrid is one of the best choices in the lineup for drivers who want a comfortable midsize sedan with impressive efficiency. Honda lists the 2026 Accord Hybrid at a starting MSRP of $33,795 with up to 46 city and 41 highway MPG.

For many shoppers, the Accord Hybrid is the sweet spot: roomy, efficient, quiet, and well-equipped.

2026 Honda HR-V: Best Affordable Honda SUV

The 2026 Honda HR-V is the most approachable SUV in Honda’s current lineup. It gives shoppers the elevated seating position and cargo flexibility of an SUV while staying compact and budget-conscious.

Honda lists the 2026 HR-V at a starting MSRP of $26,500.

Why the 2026 HR-V Is Worth Considering

The HR-V is best for:

  • City drivers
  • Small households
  • SUV shoppers on a budget
  • Drivers who want available all-wheel drive
  • Buyers moving up from a compact sedan

Honda’s 2026 HR-V offers a 2.0-liter engine, available Real Time AWD, Honda Sensing safety technology, and a standard 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility.

The HR-V is not the most powerful SUV in the Honda family, but it is easy to drive, practical, and nicely sized for everyday use.

2026 Honda CR-V: Best All-Around Honda SUV

The Honda CR-V continues to be one of the most popular compact SUVs for a reason. It offers the blend most shoppers want: comfort, cargo space, fuel economy, technology, and everyday usability.

If you are unsure which Honda SUV to buy, the CR-V is often the safest place to start.

Who Should Buy the 2026 Honda CR-V?

The CR-V is ideal for:

  • Families
  • Commuters
  • Road-trip drivers
  • Pet owners
  • Shoppers who want a practical compact SUV
  • Drivers who want gas and hybrid options

The CR-V gives you more cargo flexibility than a sedan without feeling oversized. It is also easy to maneuver, making it a strong fit for both suburban driving and city errands.

For Kansas City-area drivers who split time between commuting, school drop-offs, errands, and weekend travel, the CR-V Hybrid is one of the most balanced Honda models available.

2026 Honda Pilot: Best Honda for Large Families

The 2026 Honda Pilot is Honda’s three-row SUV and one of the strongest choices for families who need more passenger room than the CR-V provides.

Honda lists the 2026 Pilot at a starting MSRP of $42,395.

Why Families Like the 2026 Pilot

The Pilot is built for:

  • Larger families
  • Carpooling
  • Road trips
  • Drivers who need three rows
  • Shoppers who want available AWD
  • Families comparing midsize SUVs

The 2026 Pilot offers seating for up to eight, available i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, a roomy interior, and family-friendly technology. Higher trims add features such as panoramic moonroof options, Bose premium audio, multiview camera systems, and more comfort upgrades.

If you regularly carry passengers in the second and third rows, the Pilot is likely a better fit than the CR-V or Passport.

2026 Honda Passport: Best Honda SUV for Adventure

The 2026 Honda Passport is Honda’s rugged two-row midsize SUV. It is larger and more capable than the CR-V but does not include the third row found in the Pilot.

Honda lists the 2026 Passport RTL at a starting MSRP of $44,950.

What Makes the 2026 Passport Different?

The Passport is best for drivers who want:

  • Two-row SUV space
  • Standard AWD capability
  • Strong V6 performance
  • Outdoor-friendly utility
  • More cargo room than a compact SUV
  • A tougher SUV personality

The 2026 Passport features a 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission, i-VTM4 AWD with Trail Torque Logic, and available TrailSport-focused equipment.

If your weekends involve camping, hiking, trailheads, lake trips, or hauling gear, the Passport deserves a close look.

2026 Honda Odyssey: Best Honda for Families With Kids

The 2026 Honda Odyssey is one of the most practical vehicles Honda makes. SUVs may be popular, but for families who need maximum space, easy access, and real day-to-day convenience, the Odyssey is hard to beat.

Honda lists the 2026 Odyssey at a starting MSRP of $42,795.

Why the Odyssey Still Makes Sense

The Odyssey is best for:

  • Families with young children
  • Drivers who need sliding doors
  • Road-trip comfort
  • Three-row seating
  • Car seats and booster seats
  • Maximum cargo flexibility

Features like Magic Slide second-row seats, available rear entertainment, available CabinWatch and CabinTalk, power sliding doors, and a spacious cabin make the Odyssey incredibly family-friendly.

If you are choosing between the Pilot and Odyssey, ask yourself one question: do you need SUV capability, or do you need the easiest family-hauling experience possible? If convenience is the priority, the Odyssey may be the better choice.

2026 Honda Ridgeline: Best Honda Truck for Comfort

The 2026 Honda Ridgeline is not trying to be a heavy-duty work truck. Instead, it is a smart midsize pickup for drivers who want truck utility with SUV-like comfort.

Honda lists the 2026 Ridgeline at a starting MSRP of $40,795.

Why the Ridgeline Is Unique

The Ridgeline is best for:

  • Weekend projects
  • Home improvement runs
  • Light towing
  • Outdoor gear
  • Drivers who want a truck bed
  • Shoppers who prioritize comfort

The Ridgeline includes a 280-horsepower V6 engine, standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive, a dual-action tailgate, and Honda’s clever In-Bed Trunk. It can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

For many drivers, the Ridgeline is the practical truck: easy to drive, comfortable on pavement, and useful when you need open-bed cargo space.

2026 Honda Prologue: Best Honda EV The 2026 Honda Prologue is Honda’s all-electric SUV and a major option for shoppers ready to move away from gasoline.

Honda lists the 2026 Prologue at a starting MSRP of $39,900. Honda also lists an EPA range rating of up to 308 miles on select configurations.

Busting Summertime Car Battery Myths:

Myth: Cold weather is worse for car batteries than hot weather.

Truth: Hot weather is much more likely to zap your car battery of its necessary fluids. Think about how thirsty you feel after just taking your dog for a quick walk around the neighborhood in the dead heat of a KC summer. That thirst you feel is comparable to your car battery’s thirst in those hot summer months.

The evaporation of those crucial battery fluids can lessen your battery’s ability to hold a charge. Left untreated, this evaporation can lead you down the road of requiring a car battery replacement. If you’ve found yourself with a zapped car battery, order a new car battery online today.

Tips and Tricks for Battery Survival

Myth: Don’t store or charge your car battery on the ground.

Truth: Back in the day, this used to be true! Nowadays, unless your car battery is flaunting a vintage rubber casing material instead of today’s much more common plastic battery casing, this is not something you need to worry about. Score! However, if you’re driving an older vehicle and have a question about proper storage or charging practices, a member of our service team would be happy to answer your question.

Myth: You can test or charge all car batteries the same way.

Truth: Though all car batteries serve the same function, there are different maintenance protocols for drivers and auto technicians to follow to best preserve the health of the battery.

For example, jump-starting a flat battery can put additional strain on the alternator which can make it harder for the alternator to provide enough energy to keep the battery charged. However, it might be more important for a driver to have their battery jumpstarted than to immediately worry about the health of their car’s alternator. We recommend getting yourself from Point A to B however you safely can, if needed, before making a stop at your local KC auto body shop to get an opinion on your battery’s overall health.

How to know if your car battery’s dead? Test it. To reliably test your car battery’s charge at no personal charge, drop by McCarthy Honda’s Service Department for a complimentary battery test! That’s right, we offer free battery tests for drivers in need. For more info, you can contact a member of our parts department today at 913-648-5400.

Extending Car Battery Life in Summer

Myth: Less use means longer battery life.

Truth: This also used to be true back in the day. However, much like vintage sneakers, today’s car batteries can suffer more from a lack of use than from a consistent amount of use. Similarly, letting a car idle will not recharge a weak battery. In fact, it can be a reason your battery life is shortened. A better option would be to connect a maintenance charger.

Battery Fluid Loss in Hot Months

Myth: Maintenance-free car batteries will never require maintenance or tuning up of any kind.

Truth: Sadly, even maintenance-free car batteries will require occasional maintenance or tuning up. However, the amount of maintenance is microscopic when compared to normal battery wear and tear. These batteries still require an occasional corrosive fluid flush and technician once-over to ensure that the battery is properly fitted into its housing. If not getting an oil change every 6 months sounds appealing to you, check out our collection of brand-new Honda models on our lot today.

How Long Will a Car Battery Last?

Myth: Car batteries have a defined lifespan.

Truth: Car battery life expectancy can vary by up to several years depending on the region your car is being driven in.

For example, colder climates, on average, have longer life expectancy estimates when compared to warmer climates. The misunderstanding around this battery life expectation is likely due to the difficulty of turning on a car on an especially cold day. This is because a cold engine requires more energy to turn over and that cold temperatures can reduce a battery’s energy potential. Think of it like brakes: the conditions those brakes are used in impacts their overall lifespan.

When Should You Replace Your Car Battery?

If your car is already having trouble starting, it might be a good time to head to your favorite Overland Park mechanic and swap your old battery out for a new one. Our team of service techs would be happy to provide you with the item or the information that you need to be on your way. You won’t have to worry about bloody knuckles, dropped bolts, or time sweating in the garage when the McCarthy team swaps your battery.

It’s already been talked to death that Honda has been a little behind the curve when it comes to getting an electric vehicle to market. They experimented a bit with the Fit EV and Clarity Electric, but we’ve yet to get an honest-to-goodness dedicated electric nameplate. Until now, that is.

The 2024 Prologue EV has just begun to arrive at our lot in Overland Park, and now that we’ve gotten some time with it, we can confidently say that it was well worth the wait. Here’s the scoop on the best new electric SUV.

2024 Honda Prologue Pricing and Trims

Instead of overwhelming buyers with a truckload of different trim levels and package options, Honda decided to keep things streamlined for the Prologue’s inaugural year. Currently, there are 3 trims available here they are, along with their current starting MSRP:

  • Prologue EX: Starting at $47,400
  • Prologue Touring: Starting at $51,700
  • Prologue Elite: Starting at $57,900

Those prices may seem a bit intimidating to some, but don’t forget, many electric vehicles are eligible for some hefty tax credits. So, does the Honda Prologue qualify for the full federal tax credit?

According to the U.S. Department of Energy website, Prologue shoppers may indeed enjoy the full $7,500 credit under current regulations, effectively making it among the most affordable EVs when all is said and done. If you’re in the Kansas City area, contact McCarthy Honda to learn more about how the EV tax credit works.

2024 Honda Prologue Range and Charging

If we’ve learned anything about EVs thus far, it’s this: an electric vehicle lives and dies on its battery potential and charging speed. Luckily for Honda fans, the Prologue comes with some seriously impressive specs in both regards.

The front-wheel drive Prologue has the longest range of all, coming in at an estimated 296 miles. Meanwhile, the AWD version has a range of 281 miles for EX and Touring trims, while the Elite has 273 miles of range. Mileage stats like that were hard to come by even a few years ago, so no matter which one appeals to you, you can rest assured you’ll get where you’re going with plenty of watts to spare.

Charging speeds for the Prologue are solid as well. Using a DC fast charger, it can regain between 62 and 65 miles of juice in just 10 minutes, and this allows it to go from 10% to 80% charged in about half an hour.

2024 Honda Prologue Interior

The Prologue is designed with stylish simplicity in mind, and it invokes a futuristic vibe while still being immediately recognizable as a Honda.

The overall cabin design feels a bit like a cross between the CR-V and the Passport. Here are the full interior dimensions of the Honda Prologue:

Head room (front/rear)39.6 in./38.1 in.
Shoulder room (front/rear)59.4 in./57.6 in.
Hip room (front/rear)57.6 in./54.4 in.
Leg room (front/rear)41.4 in./39.4 in.
Total passenger volume111.7 cu. ft.
Cargo volume (behind 2nd row)25.2 cu. ft.
Cargo volume (behind 1st row)57.7 cu. ft.

The Prologue also boasts come excellent comfort features, including standard remote start, standard universal remote garage door system, standard dual climate control, and standard heated front seats.

2024 Honda Prologue Tech

Regardless of the trim, all Prologue models come equipped with an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch color touch screen display, which features Google built-in with an intuitive voice command interface. Bluetooth, Sirius XM, HD Radio, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot, and HondaLink through OnStar are all standard issue as well.

The Prologue also comes with standard wireless phone charging, plus 4 USB ports (two in front, two in the rear).

Using Google built-in and other connected services, EV route planning is as easy as saying, “Hey Google…” and you’ll be instantly routed to the nearest charging station with the cheapest rates. You can also use it for general navigation and audio streaming, all hands-free.

2024 Honda Prologue Safety

Official safety scores from the NHTSA have yet to be released, but if Honda’s track record is anything to go by, we’re guessing the Prologue will turn out to be one of the safest electric vehicles yet.

All models come standard with the full complement of Honda Sensing driver assistance features. The list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and Reverse Automatic Braking.

Additional available features include Traffic Sign Recognition, Rear Pedestrian Alert, and Surround Vision System.

We’re officially about a year into the Honda Prologue’s lifecycle, and so far, it’s held its own as one of the best electric SUVs for families. Although the reviews have been excellent, Honda didn’t get where it is today by getting lazy when it comes to innovation. For 2025, the Prologue has gotten some exciting improvements since its inaugural season.

Here’s a quick look at how the Prologue is continuing to refine and improve for shoppers in Kansas City.

What’s New in the 2025 Honda Prologue?

An EV is only as good as its electric motor and battery architecture. These components are crucial to the Prologue’s range, charging, and performance, and for the 2025 model, it’s received a significant boost to the front power unit to provide better efficiency and power.

2WD Prologue models now have a top-level range of up to 308 miles on a single charge. That’s 12 miles more than last year’s Prologue, which may not seem particularly significant, but it’s an excellent improvement when you consider the fact that it’s only the model’s second year in production.

Range has increased across the board for AWD Prologue models too the EX and Touring trims now have a range of up to 294 miles, and the top-level Elite trim now has a range of up to 283 miles. In other words, they’ve increased by 13 and 10 miles, respectively. As Honda EV battery tech continues to get better and better, we expect to see further increases in the very near future.

The more robust front power unit also gives the Prologue more power to play with. 2WD Prologue models rise to 220 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, while the AWD Prologue now has 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque. That’s an increase of 25 pound-feet for the all-wheel drive version, which is guaranteed to translate to a noticeable increase in acceleration.

One thing that hasn’t changed? Its MSRP. The 2025 Prologue’s sticker price remains unchanged from the 2024 model year.

Other Honda Prologue Features and Specs

Apart from the new powertrain developments, the 2025 Prologue remains largely unchanged from the previous year, and it retains its extensive list of comfort, tech, and safety features.

So, you’re in the market for your next ride, and you’ve already decided that you don’t want to buy something brand new. There are plenty of upsides to buying a used car, but during your shopping journey, you may be wondering what’s the difference between used vs. certified pre-owned.

Some folks just assume that certified pre-owned (CPO) cars are just a gimmick to hike the price tag up a few hundred dollars, but in fact, there are a number of benefits to choosing the Honda Certified Pre-Owned program. Here’s the lowdown so you can decide which is the best option for you.

What is a Certified Pre-Owned Car?

Most major manufacturers have their own certified pre-owned program. CPO programs vary from automaker to automaker, but they also tend to have some general traits in common. CPO cars usually must fall under a certain age and mileage limit to qualify, they often receive more extensive background checks and inspections, and they tend to come with extended warranty coverage

Apart from these main characteristics, many companies offer a wide range of other perks

Honda Certified Pre-Owned Benefits

Honda’s CPO program, known as HondaTrue, is one of the leading certified pre-owned programs in the industry, giving shoppers in Kansas City much greater peace of mind when buying a used car.

The program covers two different tiers. The top tier is HondaTrue Certified, which covers vehicles with under 80,000 miles between model years 2020 to 2025, as of this writing. Vehicles also receive a comprehensive 182-point inspection to ensure their quality and a complimentary CARFAX vehicle history report for all customers.

Other HondaTrue Certified benefits include:

  • Up to 7 years/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage
  • Up to 2 years/100,000 miles of additional non-powertrain coverage
  • $0 deductible on repairs
  • Up to two complimentary oil changes
  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • Trip interruption reimbursement
  • Concierge service
  • 3-day exchange policy
  • 90 days of SiriusXM®

Many Honda vehicles that don’t qualify for the top-level program will still be covered by HondaTrue Used, which includes many of the same benefits and applies to vehicles from model years 2015 to 2025, with no mileage cap.

HondaTrue has won numerous accolades over the years, including an award for best CPO programs from IntelliChoice, and certain certified models may even qualify for low APR financing. If you’re interested in learning more about the greatest CPO warranty in the game, contact us today.

McCarthy’s Certified Pre-Owned Program

At McCarthy, we pride ourselves on selling only the most dependable used cars in town. That’s why we offer own very own McCarthy Certified program, so even if you have your heart set on another car brand, we’ve got you covered.

Like the HondaTrue program, our certified cars go through a rigorous 182-point quality inspection and come with a free vehicle history report. Additional benefits include:

  • 3 months/4,500 miles of comprehensive warranty coverage
  • 3-day vehicle exchange program
  • Available parts and service discounts on oil changes, tires, body work, and more

If you’re interested in enjoying these benefits and others, you can shop our extensive inventory of certified pre-owned vehicles on our website now.

Just a few months ago, we wrote about how the Civic saw some huge changes for the 2025 model year, chief among them being the shiny new hybrid electric powertrain.

The 2025 Civic Sedan has been on sale since the summer, and now, the popular 2025 Civic Hatchback joins the roster just in time for the holidays. Read on to find out about all the exciting details about what’s new.

Civic Hybrid Power

The Civic’s new hybrid powertrain is a huge part of Honda’s ongoing electrification strategy. The Civic is the brand’s best-selling model, and they predict that about 40% of sales will be hybrid electric.

Like the Sedan, the Civic Hatchback’s hybrid powertrain puts out an impressive 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, which makes it the most powerful non-performance Civic that Honda has ever put out.

As expected, it also gets absolutely insane gas mileage. The fuel economy of the 2025 Civic Hatchback hybrid is rated at 45 MPG on the highway and 50 MPG in the city.

The hybrid system replaces the 1.5-liter turbo engine of yesteryear, but the Civic Hatchback will still have an available 2.0-liter gas engine in the Sport trim. This provides buyers with a range of options, and the nonhybrid motor gets a respectable 30 MPG in the city and 38 on the highway, too.

Civic Hatchback Dimensions and Interior

One of the biggest reasons shoppers have been clamoring for a hybrid version of the Civic Hatchback is its drastically improved interior measurements.

Passenger dimensions between the Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback are identical; both have the same headroom and legroom, and both have 99 cubic feet of total passenger volume. However, the liftback body style allows for acres more cargo capacity. The Civic Hatchback boasts 24.5 cubic feet, while the Sedan has just under 15 cubes. Aside from that, the Civic Hybrid trims add more standard comfort and convenience amenities. All hybrid models get dual-zone climate control, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and a power moonroof with a tilt feature

Civic Tech

One of the other big headlines of the Civic’s midcycle refresh is the expansion of standard and available technology features.

For the first time, the Civic comes standard with Google built-in and Alexa Built-in, allowing for more seamless hands-free interfacing with devices, media, apps, navigation, and more. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto remain standard across the lineup as well, and all trims now come with dual USB-C ports in front.

Regarding infotainment, the Civic Sport Hybrid (as well as the gas-powered Civic Sport) comes with a 7-inch center touch screen and 7-inch driver info display, as well as an eight-speaker audio system. The top-tier Civic Sport Touring Hybrid gets the 9-inch center screen and 10.2-inch driver info interface, plus a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system, wireless charging pad, and onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Honda Civic is more than a car; it’s an institution. The world was a very different place when it first debuted back in 1973 Nixon was in office, Elvis was still playing concerts, and The Internet existed only in the minds of a few highly educated nerds.

Half a century later, the award-winning Civic is regarded as one of the best cars in the world, and it’s the longest-tenured vehicle in Honda history, with over 12 million sold in the U.S. alone.

Now that the Honda Civic is a few years into its 11th generation, the brain trust at Honda has decided to shake things up in a big way. It’s been totally refreshed with a new look, a ton of additional features, and for the first time in nearly a decade, a hybrid electric powertrain.

Here’s a breakdown of all the changes you can expect to the 2025 Civic when it comes to Overland Park this summer.

A Powerful Hybrid Electric Motor

Honda claims that the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid will be the most powerful non-Type R Civic we’ve seen yet, while also providing the same wallet-friendly fuel sippage you’d expect from an HEV.

The Civic Hybrid’s powertrain is bolstered by two hearty electric motors, which deliver responsive acceleration and efficiency. The experience is enhanced by Linear Shift Control, which is designed to impart a feel that mimics the classic multi-gear drivetrain found in gas-powered models.

For the 2025 model year, the hybrid engine replaces the 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine. Current projections say that it’ll crank out a combined 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque, a significant boost in power over the outgoing powertrain. The tried-and-true 2.0-liter gas engine will still be available in the base Civic trims, too.

Official numbers regarding the fuel economy of the 2025 Civic have yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to easily surpass 40 miles per gallon both in the city and on the highway. Gas mileage is further improved by the new Civic’s selectable Econ drive mode and its paddle-operated regenerative braking, which has four different levels to customize your ride at a moment’s notice.

Form, Function, and Style

As part of its refresh, the 2025 Civic has gotten some exterior design touch-ups, which give it a more aerodynamic profile for even better fuel economy. Plus, it just looks cool.

The frontal profile is overhauled for an altogether more imposing look. The side air inlets are larger, the upper and lower grilles are boxier, and the fascia has been tweaked for an aggressive, sporty appearance that matches the new hybrid’s power. Headlamps and taillights have also been given a new treatment.

New colors for the 2025 Civic include Urban Gray Pearl, Solar Silver Metallic, Blue Lagoon Pearl (sedan only) and Sand Dune Pearl (hatchback only).

In addition to the outward-facing stylings, the new Civic’s interior has gotten some subtle tweaks as well, further improving on the already excellent design from the previous year. Standard features have been added to more trims—all hybrids come with a moonroof, dual climate control, and heated front seats, and all models across the board are now kitted with standard USB-C ports up front.

Unbeatable Tech and Safety

For the very first time, the Honda Civic will be available with Google built-in starting this year.

Upper-level trims will have this feature as standard, allowing for even greater device integration and customization through Google Assistant, Google Maps, and the Google Play store. Using Google built-in, navigation, music, podcasts, news, and more will be available using hands-free voice commands, allowing drivers to keep their attention fully on the road without skipping a beat. New Civic models will come complete with a 3-year unlimited data plan to access this bold new tech.

Gas-powered trims will still have compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well.

Of course, one thing that hasn’t changed is Honda’s commitment to safety. The Honda Sensing suite is standard across the entire Civic line, and includes features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist System.

New for 2025, Civic Sport trims now come standard with Blind Spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert as well, guaranteeing an even safer ride for drivers in Kansas City.

A New Selection of Trims

Reflecting the shift toward the hybrid powertrain, the list of available trims for the Civic has been overhauled. The list now includes:

  • 2025 Honda Civic LX (sedan only)
  • 2025 Honda Civic Sport
  • 2025 Honda Civic Sport Hybrid
  • 2025 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hybrid

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid: Coming Very Soon

The Civic Hybrid Sedan will be available to buyers in Overland Park and beyond within the next month, with the Civic Hybrid Hatchback following just a few months after.
